CMD HONORARY MEMBERS

In 2009, the Cluster da Madeira eo Deseño de Galicia established the figure of honorary member to highlight the work of promoting and committing to the use of wood by individuals, institutions or business groups.

So far, the CMD has 12 honorary members who have opted for this natural material.

XOSÉ OTERO POMBO, HONORARY MEMBER IN 2009

The first honorary member of the CMA could not be another person like Xosé Otero Pombo, for his valuable work promoting and committing to the use of wood as a construction material throughout his long professional career.

Otero Pombo has wood as one of the fundamental axes on which his works are based.


XOSÉ LOIS MARTÍNEZ, HONORARY MEMBER YEAR 2010

Architect and researcher at the University of A Coruña, Xosé Lois Martínez has wood as a benchmark in his works, both professional and academic. He is the promoter and defender of numerous projects carried out in this material.

In addition, Xosé Lois has been characterized by making a convinced defense of this material in all his public interventions.


CONSORTIUM OF SANTIAGO DE COMPOSTELA, HONORARY MEMBER YEAR 2011

In its third edition, the recognition of honorary member went to the Santiago de Compostela Consortium for having wood as a benchmark in the rehabilitation of historic buildings that it promotes and for making a convinced defense of this material before society.

The Consortium has perfectly conveyed the importance of sustainable and environmentally friendly construction for a historic city and the promotion of new personalities who bet on this material.


INDITEX GROUP, HONORARY MEMBER IN 2012

The Inditex Group has been chosen this year as an honorary partner for carrying out very specific actions to achieve energy efficiency, which demonstrates its commitment to the environment: the construction of sustainable stores, the use of environmentally friendly materials, support for environmental projects, etc

In addition, the company has always shown its commitment to Galicia, with its materials and with Galician companies.


OFFICIAL COLLEGE OF ARCHITECTS OF GALICIA, HONORARY MEMBER YEAR 2013

COAG was named an honorary member for having wood as a benchmark in all its public exhibitions as well as for always making a convinced defense of this material.

Throughout the years, he conveyed the importance of sustainable and environmentally friendly construction for historic cities and the promotion of new professionals who are committed to this material.

In addition, historically, it has always collaborated with the Cluster in defending the work carried out by companies in the sector.


JUANA DE VEGA FOUNDATION, HONORARY MEMBER YEAR 2014

The Juana de Vega Foundation has an impeccable historical record in defense of sustainability, defense of natural resources and training. In addition, it stands out for promoting and helping Galician works through the Juana de Vega Architecture Awards.


SUPERIOR TECHNICAL SCHOOL OF ARCHITECTURE OF A CORUÑA, HONORARY MEMBER YEAR 2015

This recognition adds to the existing links between the work carried out by the School, as a teacher and researcher, and the world of business and the economy.

The Cluster firmly believes in the importance of training and raising awareness of the uses of wood from the classroom. Only from knowledge can we advance in the future


TOMÁS ALONSO, HONORARY MEMBER YEAR 2016

Tomás Alonso, as a cosmopolitan artisan, collects all the values that we at CMD try to project: he uses materials in a sober, soft and practical way and there is no border between art and design.

His sensitivity and his artistic love for wood make him the best international ambassador of the Cluster.


CONSTRUCTION LABOR FOUNDATION, HONORARY MEMBER YEAR 2017

Among the many actions carried out by the Foundation, the start-up of the National Reference Training Center in Rehabilitation Matters stands out, in collaboration with another of our honorary partners, the Santiago de Compostela Consortium. This Center will be the first in Spain for specialized training and recycling in the field of rehabilitation of construction workers and companies, training more than 2,000 professionals each year.

His commitment to training and his determined defense of wood were key to being the honorary member of the Cluster this year.


UNIVERSITY OF SANTIAGO DE COMPOSTELA, HONORARY MEMBER YEAR 2018

The University of Santiago de Compostela makes a clear commitment to knowledge and training through the Master's Degree in Structural Wood Engineering promoted by PEMADE (Structural Wood Engineering Platform), on the Lugo Campus, since the end of 2008. In addition, the work to enhance the value of wood as a material for the future is highlighted, highlighting this material in different public appearances. The CMD also wanted to highlight the effort of the previous management to believe and defend the values of wood, promoting the construction of the next Compostela Medical School.


VENANCIO SALCINES, HONORARY MEMBER YEAR 2019

The economist, businessman and professor, Venancio Salcines, has been working for years to defend and support wood, the sector and its economic viability. In addition, he shares interesting reflections with which he helps spread the values of wood in society.

In 2020, after the confinement, the CMD signed a collaboration agreement with the Clúster Saúde de Galicia to work together in the search for safe and reliable solutions in the return to normality. The health-wood pairing is indissoluble, now more than ever, in which concepts such as biophilia, sustainability and improving the quality of life have gained special prominence. SERGAS is carrying out important work to humanize and contribute to a greater well-being of users and health personnel.
